Please note : This information provided here is for students who are home schooled or who have been given special consideration to participate.

There are several categories of enrolment and access to STL is affected by these conditions of enrolment.

There are eligibility criteria for these as well. These will have been addressed by the enrolment staff upon application or during the first consultation. If still have further concerns, they should be directed to the enrolment staff of the BSDE

The phones supplied are digital and have an adapter plug for the microphone. Normal phone will still work, however,

Students will call in on the 1800 number ( not given here) or local call number if you are not eligible for this number. The sessions require a unique 5 digit family pin number ( given on completed return of consent / application form ) as well as a two digit pin number for the scheduled session. If you lose yours please contact enrolments on (07) 32148393, as I only know of the access pin for my subject's session.

Format :   #### #### (access number) ##### (family pin)  ## (session pin)

If you experience technical difficulties please call (07) 3214 8430.

STL - conference protocols

Delivery of an telephone (audio only) conference between many people needs some rules so that the delivery is free flowing and content is intelligible by all.

Please adhere to the following conference protocols (etiquette)

  1. When entering the conference wait for the the conversation to stop ; the moderator ( teacher ) will welcome you to the conference by name ( system recognises the caller ID)
  2. When you wish to make a comment or ask a question, state your name and wait for the moderator to announce you.
  3. The teacher may allow for group discussions, if it is appropriate. However when the teacher wants to stop this and take charge of the lesson again, conversation must come to an end immediately.
      • Teacher : " Okay, quiet please
      • (you may notice that you have been muted as an audible tone will signify)
  4. Please note, there are sometimes up to eight ( or more  ) students in a teleconference. Some students may not have the opportunity to speak. Students should try to keep interruptions to a minumum and allow others to have a chance to participate in discussions.
  5. Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
  6. The conference will end after 45 minutes, so teachers may annouce the remaining time available before the sessions ends in readiness to close the lesson .

Note : If you wish to ask another student a question of a personal nature, ask them to call you after the conference.
